A Quiet Breakthrough: A Digital Product Meant for Me

January 1, 2026

Whoa! Somehow, This Became a Thing?!?!

Today did not go how I expected. It was technically my day off from my regular job because of the holiday, although a lot of what I do can be done remotely, so I still worked a bit. Still, on paper, it was a day off. And that matters, because I have openly admitted that I burn myself out often, and that unlearning that habit is part of why this whole Seed a Day idea exists in the first place. I mentioned this on my About Me page. But I for sure was not expecting to make a digital product.

Being January 1, I felt pulled to revisit an old habit I tried a couple of years ago. Saving money, but doing it in a way that did not overwhelm me. It actually worked really well until about halfway through the year, when life happened and I needed the savings. But the important part is this: the money existed. It was there when I needed it.

So today, I decided to start that habit again.

I even opened a brand new savings account with an online bank so I would not see it every day or be tempted to touch it. So far, so good.

Then came the part where I track progress.

In the past, I tracked everything in Apple Notes on my phone. Simple, messy, but effective. As I started setting it up again, it hit me. Restarting this savings experiment was technically my seed for the day, because I am trying to convince myself that even tiny steps can be celebrated when they lead to something good. But it did not stop there.

I realized I could move the tracker into Google Sheets online. Then I realized I could add totals. Then I realized I could break the savings down into daily, weekly, and monthly options. And then it clicked. This was not just a personal tracker anymore. This was a project. Possibly even something I could sell.

By the time I looked up, most of the day was gone.

The tracker is built. The instructions are written. I would say it is about 95% done. What is left is the part that requires a little more focus: uploading it properly to my Etsy shop and making sure all the details are right. That can wait until tomorrow, or maybe even the weekend. I do have to go back to work tomorrow, after all, and then I have the weekend off.

For today, I am calling this a win. It was a digital product that I didn’t expect to make.

Here is to day one of planting a new seed. Just need 364 more seeds to go!
